10:53pm: Cummings
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;

wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world

my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
-the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says

we are for each other: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph

And death i think is no parenthesis

4:47pm: So it turns out Julie is not moving to Brooklyn. She is now moving to Philadelphia! She and Gwen went yesterday to look at apartments and actually picked this really beautiful one in West Philadelphia near the UPenn campus (Julie is going to Drexel, which is right across the street.)

So that means I will most likely be living/working in West Philadelphia this summer, so if you live in Philly/surrounding areas, you give me a call or text me or write me a letter or instant message me or something to let me know what you'll be up to!

9:16am: So, since my friends are mostly good people of discerning musical taste, I was wondering if anybody has any Andrew Bird that they could send me?

6:23pm: Nothing all that surprising has happened lately.

Today I went to a really great Jeff Wall photo exhibit with Gwen, and then we went on a walk up at Eagle Rock with Julie's dog and had a nice talk about how some people are just meant to be moving around their whole lives and how the only place we can find comfort is usually in discomfort and unfamiliarity. Then we had a lovely dinner at Veggie Heaven. I like our mother-son time a lot, Gwen really helps me get a good perspective on day to day life.

3:07pm: Goals for the weekend:

-Accept that this is just my life.
-Finish my music theory work.
-Do some maxin' and relaxin'.
-Get a little more level headed.

I've been really into Pink Moon. There's something really necessary about those songs and the way they're recorded that I love. There's nothing in between you and the intentions of the music, they're just kind of put out there. Other Nick Drake stuff just doesn't have that quality. I also got the Mountain Goats discography and I'm just making a dent in it, but John Darnielle's lyrics are consistently really really wonderful.

The new Young Jeezy is great, too.

6:55pm: It's so hard to feel better when everyone else is right down there with you. But if misery loves company, why is everyone still so lonely?

My life is occupied by Law & Order, John Coltrane anthologies, sifting through entirely too much Bit Torrent crap, board games with Gwen and Julie, reading, writing, drawing, and just plain moping.

I don't feel productive, and I don't feel like being productive.

I guess this is what being really old is like minus the hip replacements and extensive heart problems?

3:14pm: The Roost is closing.

That location must be cursed. It has robbed us of two great restaurants. First The Phunky Burrito Joint, now The Roost.

Go ahead life, take away everything that I love.

Seesh.

1:50pm: I went out to lunch with Zoe and Furst, and that made me feel a lot better, so I'd like to chill with some more people...

Now, I got this really great Sorry board for Christmas. It's the original game from the 60's, not that space age shit they're passing off as family fun now. This Sorry board means business. It's even authentically missing a yellow piece.

So if you want to play Sorry, let me know and we'll get a serious game going.

Scrabble and Jenga are also available.

1:15pm: My sister's dog got the most presents, and I think we've officially admitted that we don't care about Christmas at all.

5:45pm: Does anybody remember when I was really positive and I was good at cheering people up and I was all about how incredible just being alive is?

I cannot decide if that's what I'm like, or if I really am this cynical worrying jerk.

Maybe I'm just both?

10:36pm:

Listening to Medulla on headphones in the dark is a really intensely rewarding experience, despite the many sort of creepy moments. I ended up listening to Vespertine and that was just as wonderful in it's own way, but it didn't have that sense of accomplishment that Medulla gave me.

Clearly, I am becoming a huge, huuuuuuuge nerd.

I'd also like to mention a little nugget of gold featured on Pitchfork this week:

"4. DJ Drama & Lil Wayne: Dedication 2
Lil Eazy E's Cali Untouchable Radio 14 is sorta my favorite mixtape overall this year, because that West Coast sound will always reach me. But lyrically Lil Wayne is perched on a throne made out of skulls, overlooking a desolate plain across which his innumerable inferiors crawl, unable to tolerate the incandescent light of his raw skill. Even his lesser couplets dazzle."

-John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats on his number 4 pick for favorite album of 2006, Lil' Wayne's "Dedication 2"

Pitchfork, I hate on you a lot, but I keep coming back for things like this.

What is Stickam?

So far I've gathered that it is the most intrusive, creepy thing ever to hit the interweb, so everyone is probably all over it.

1:40pm: Stuff:

Recording has gotten to the frustrating part, but its still fun.
Thanksgiving at the Rudoy's was SOO loose this year, a family endorsed beiruit game occured, and Julie and I repped hard against Charlie and Jesse, coming out the victors, with our families cheering us on.
Last night I redeemed my Roost card for the monster, and I've never felt more disgusting/great.
Slept over at Charlie's with Matt and watched Lucky Number Slevin this morning, which was surprisingly really really good.
Today I'm going to some art show with Julie and Gwen and maybe to Philly(?).

A new band is in the works, consisting of myself, Charles, Karl, and a new comer, Harry Wohl.

More details to surface soon.

I'm on a reaaalllyyy big Joy Division tip. Still worrying all the time about everything, but thats never stopped me before.

2:46am: life, you are interesting and i'm glad we're friends again.

charles is visiting people at schools over the weekend and karl is still in disney land (hahaha) which is not so hot, but matt and alex are still around, and so is renting "backyard wrestling" to play all night whilst scarfing down some kettle corn!

sometimes i wish i had a camera to take pictures of my life, and then i decide i'm really happy that i don't.

it's hard to be upset with someone you're close to and not say anything when its so apparent.

by the way, the new whole foods is mind blowing.
